New Shoreham, R.I. – Former Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, Judge Robert Flanders, was endorsed Monday by the Block Island Republican Town Committee.
This marks the eighth endorsement Judge Flanders has received, following the endorsements of the Warwick, Newport, East Greenwich, Cumberland, South Kingstown, Glocester, and Providence Republican Town and City Committees, ahead of the June 27th Republican nominating convention.
“Judge Flanders’ resume is extremely impressive, and yet he comes across as a regular Rhode Islander. We think he has the best shot of unseating the existing Senator. We know he will always keep his eye on Block Island; he knows, and to quote him, ‘it’s a Rhode Island treasure.’ Bob is the type of person who will go to work for Rhode Island and the country and work with both sides of the aisle – we haven’t had someone like that since Senator John Pastore,” said Jerry Zarella, Chairman of the Block Island Republican Town Committee.
Additional endorsement decisions are slated to be announced. The Rhode Island Republican Party State Central Committee will convene on June 27th to endorse the party’s statewide candidates.FacebookTwitterGoogle +
